Clothing Drive

NHS Clothes Drive.jpeg

This year, members of NHS are required to initiate a service learning project that serves either the school and university or the local communities.  Senior NHS member Mallory Bayless led the first initiative of the year, coordinating a clothing drive for three local shelters:  Manulito's Navajo Children's Home, Battered Families of NM, and Care 66. Her initiative produced clothes, jackets, and shoes that were then delivered to each of the three shelters.  The amount of clothing required five vehicles full of clothing to travel as a caravan to make the deliveries.

As advisor, I would like to acknowledge all those members who donated, sorted, and delivered the items for the drive.  Our chapter of NHS would like to extend our many thanks and appreciation to the students and staff members at MCHS who donated for this very worthy cause!  In addition, thank you to Mr. Chauncy Martinez, our parent volunteer, for his time and his truck!  It was full of boxes of clothing all meant for Manulito's Navajo Children's Home.

And, of course, thank you to Mallory Bayless for her tireless efforts in coordinating, collaborating, and executing her initiative!
